Virgil is a software product development company based in Amsterdam. Our product portfolio consists of: 

  1. One, a fully fledged IBM Websphere portal application aimed at the financial services industry.
  2. Live, an SDK for Comet architectures intended for industry-independent zero client, streaming data applications.
We attract our clients with innovative solutions that excel in their adventurousness and originality. Our front-ends make heavy use of Ajax and Comet technologies, whereas our back-ends are based on service-oriented architectures and employ distributed computing techniques.

Professional culture            
At Virgil, we aim to do more than just meet the requirements of our clients: we focus on achieving a high level of quality for our products. To attain this goal, we follow a professional and result-oriented approach. We are committed to let our work efforts be guided by realistic project plans and deadlines as well as clearly defined deliverables. At Virgil, overtime happens incidentally, typically just to make that extra effort to get an A+ instead of an A.

Personal development
To assist our personnel in developing their skills, Virgil proposes the following component-based HRM program:
  1. We make sure that developers are encouraged to share skills among each other. In particular, we have our experts in front-end and back-end development
  2. Each developer receives a personal  development plan. The plan will typically set goals and define means, such as self-study, courses and trainings
  3. Virgil has an employee bonus plan consisting of, and measured by 4 performance metrics: the company, the team, the employee and his/her individual development plan. This can lead to substantial yearly additional compensation.
